"First and foremost, it is important for you to know that Governor Tom Corbett and I strongly support the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences, as we believe it provides tremendous benefits to high school students throughout the Commonwealth." -- PA Secretary of Education Ron Tomalis | Subscribe To Our Mailing ListSubscribe To Our Mailing List |
Volunteers Needed
We all have busy lives but if PGSS taught us anything, it's that we really don't need that much sleep each night, especially when working on something that we are passionate about.
We need YOUR help:
- finding alumni
- writing grants
- managing the website
- serving on the fundraising committee
- and much more!
Our Mission
The PGSS Alumni Association (PGSSAA) is a non-profit organization established by alumni of the former Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS). The members of the PGSSAA believe it is important to promote the teaching of evidence based science, mathematics, and computer science at the secondary school level and to encourage students who demonstrate an aptitude for mathematics and science to pursue science-based careers.
As alumni of the former PGSS, we recognize the importance of bringing students together to engage them intellectually as well as socially. One of the main goals of the PGSSAA, after establishing a network of alumni, is to raise funds for the re-establishment of a school in Pennsylvania like the former PGSS, ensuring that future generations of students benefit from the experience that meant so much to each of us.
